Design Duel is a conceptual book project born from the tension between creativity and sustainability—a powerful visual narrative that explores their clash and eventual alliance in the evolving world of graphic design. Rooted in an original, research-driven essay I wrote, the project reimagines the battlefield of design, asking what it means to create not only with impact, but with responsibility.

I led the project from start to finish—writing the essay, developing the concept, designing the layout, and producing the book as a physical manifestation of the work’s core message. The visual direction intentionally breaks traditional layout design rules, using expressive typography, overlapping layers, and distorted, handwritten type to evoke urgency, conflict, and transformation. Paint splatters resembling blood spill across the pages, symbolizing the intensity of the duel and the cost of inaction.

This book is not just meant to be read—it’s meant to be felt. The chaotic, layered visuals mirror the emotional and ethical complexity of designing in a world that demands both innovation and sustainability. Every spread challenges the reader to question the role of aesthetics, ethics, and impact—ultimately revealing that the future of design lies not in choosing between creativity and sustainability, but in uniting them.
